Our first house was a 920 square foot cottage in the Houston Heights, 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. We lived there for five years and I had no idea it was small. We loved it! Even after adding a 100 pound Rhodesian Ridgeback to our family I still felt okay on space. I loved that house so much I would get a little defensive when people would say we needed to move to a bigger house. It wasn’t until we brought our baby girl home that cottage started to feel tight. Then she started to crawl… time to sell!!!
I had big plans to renovate that whole house but during our 5 years we had just two home improvement projects. We repainted the exterior and we remodeled the bathroom. I believe the bathroom renovation ultimately sold the house. The new exterior paint and a great set of photos from our great photographer neighbors 🙂 were next on the list of reasons our house sold so quickly. Long story short, we sold the house the day we listed for 10% above our asking price. Are you thinking maybe we didn’t price it right? I think we did, it was the bathroom the buyers wanted! Here are the dramatic before and after pictures of our 80 sq ft bathroom:
Stay tuned for pictures of the rest of the house including the red exterior. In the meantime, I plan on posting the specifications (paint color, tile, fixtures) of the of the renovated bathroom if people are interested, let me know!
Thank you to our former neighbors, Kim and Greg of Kolanowski Studio, for a great photo of our bathroom and for letting me use it in my blog!
